An entity gap is a topic, concept, or named entity (a product, person, place, or thing) that competitors or authoritative sources cover on a subject but your content does not, or covers only thinly. Search and AI systems increasingly understand pages in terms of entities and their relationships, so a page missing the entities a topic should contain can read as less complete even when its keywords match.
Why it matters: Closing entity gaps improves topical completeness, which helps both classic search relevance and how accurately AI answer engines represent your page. The work is editorial, not mechanical: identify the entities that genuinely belong to a topic — from competitor coverage, the results page, and the questions people ask — then cover the ones you legitimately have something to say about. Adding entities you cannot speak to authentically is keyword-stuffing by another name and helps nothing.
